Orb Communications Provide Telecom E-Txt Service at Beach Hop 2010

Orb Communications is proud to be back on board for the third year running as a sponsor of Beach Hop 2010.  

Orb will once again be supporting the smooth running of this iconic Kiwi event by powering Telecom’s popular E-Txt system – which provides instant messaging of important information and updates to Beach Hop attendee’s mobile devices throughout the event. 

The Beach Hop is New Zealand’s number 1 Nostalgia Festival that celebrates the best of the 50’s & 60’s.  Held in the popular seaside holiday resort of Whangamata, the 5 day festival celebrates music, culture, fashion, hot rods, motorbikes, dancing, dragsters, scooters of this golden era. The festival has grown from 4,000 to over 70,000 people in just 5 years. This makes it one of the largest events of its kind in the world. All proceeds raised are donated to emergency services in the area. Make sure you get along and enjoy all the non stop action!

SPCA Annual Appeal Week 2009

The Royal New Zealand SPCA's Annual Appeal Week will be held from November 7-13 across New Zealand.

Orb Communications is proud to be supporting the RNZ SPCA's efforts through sales of special SPCA Appeal Week Keyrings and Badges.

Paw Keyrings will be $4.00 and Badges just $2.00, and both will be available at the POS counter of your local Orb Store.

So please make your way down to your local Orb store during SPCA Annual Appeal Week  (7-13 November) and show your support.

SPCA Cupcake Day 2009



Join the biggest bake off in New Zealand! Grab your ingredients, dust off your chef’s hat and get your mixer ready for SPCA Cupcake Day 2009!

Cupcake celebrations will commence on Monday 31st August 2009 – the official national Cupcake Day for the SPCA. SPCA Cupcake Cooks throughout New Zealand will descend on their schools, workplaces and social groups with batches of yummy homemade cupcakes to sell. 100% of the proceeds will go to the SPCA.

To make the day even spicier, we are running three competitions with three great prizes.

‘Most Creative Cupcake’ – the person or team that makes the most creative cupcake.

‘Extreme Cupcake Eating’ – the team or person who finds the most outrageous place to eat their cupcake.

‘Most Money Raised’ – the person, team, business or school that raises the most money for the SPCA.

Whether you want to be an SPCA Cupcake Cook or simply an SPCA Cupcake eater – you will be supporting the thousands of animals we care for everyday.
Registrations open on 29 June 2009.

National Jandal Day - Surf Life Saving Annual Appeal 2009

Friday 4 December is National Jandal Day - Surf Life Savings’ second annual national appeal day.  

Surf Life Saving is one of New Zealand’s most respected charity organisations whose primary objective is to prevent drowning and injury on New Zealand beaches – making our favourite playground safer for everyone.

Jandals, summer holidays, the beach and Surf Lifeguards paint a picture of a good old Kiwi summer - with more than 80 percent of Kiwis claiming to own a pair of jandals - and over 60 percent admit to owning more than one pair!

Surf Life Saving NZ is encouraging New Zealanders to wear their jandals on Friday December 4 - and pledge a donation to support safer summers on our beaches.

Wear your jandals to work on Dec 4 & give generously! 

Show your support for National Jandal Day by wearing your jandals to work on Friday December 4 - and give generously:

Donations can be made: 
1.  Online with a credit card at www.nationaljandalday.co.nz.
2.  Call 0900 54 334 to make an instant $20 donation
3.  Post your donation to: Surf Life Saving, PO Box 9205, Wellington 6141, Freepost 100280
4.  Text the word SURF to 4483 to make an instant $3 donation
5.  Give generously to street collectors on Friday 4th December
6.  At ASB Bank around the country

Collectors will be out in force, so please spare a gold coin or two for this worthy cause.

Women's Refuge Recycling Programme

Support Women's Refuge & Help Break The Cycle

Women's Refuge are committed to liberating women, children, families and whanau from family violence through the provision of quality services and social commentary
 
Women's Refuge represents 50 Refuges, from Kaitaia to Invercargill.  They include general Refuges, as well as Refuges offering services for Maori, Pacific Island and Asian and Migrant women and children.

Women's Refuge aims to not only help women in the short term and the time of crisis, but to ensure their story is turned around and that they and their children emerge on the other side.


Orb Communications is pleased to be supporting the great work of the Women's Refuge by recycling used mobile phones for use by women coming to Refuge

Westpac Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust



The Westpac Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust ensures that the communities of the greater Auckland region have the security of a professional, efficient, emergency air ambulance, search and rescue service available to them anytime.

The Trust does not receive direct government funding and relies upon the support of the community to survive.

Orb Communications has supported the ARHT since 2005, and we look forward to this support continuing.
