Past:
Jackson & Wills is a family owned and operated company that has been a part of Southland since 1947 when Mr Doug Jackson and Mr Maurice Wills both decided to put their comprehensive knowledge of the fledgling electronic industry ( at that time), together to form a company. Unfortunately Mr Jackson died 2 years in that partnership but 57 years later the original company name lives on and is well known in the community for its superior customer service and technical abilities.
Our experience in domestic and commercial electronic equipment sales and installation since that time has been second to none and marked by a number of notable firsts along the way.
• First to view overseas television in 1956
• First to construct and test a locally built television set
• First to introduce microwave television banking systems in NZ to the Southland savings bank
• First amateur radio enthusiast in NZ to communicate with overseas station VHF bands (NZ – USA)
• First to introduce VHF land mobile radio telephone communication to Southland
In 1993 we were appointed one of the first “Telecom Mobile Service Centers” in the country.
These centers of excellence were set up to look after Telecoms increasing amount of cellular phone customers by connecting them to the network, performing upgrades and servicing their phones.
This association still stands today although the Telecom Branding over the years has changed a number of times.
Present:
Today our company is made up of 12 enthusiastic people not two; all with the same passion and dedication to providing professional service, advice and technical know- how that has set us apart over many years from our competitors.
The products and services we deal in today are extremely high tech and capable of doing things that would have been beyond comprehension many years ago such as
GPS tracking and management systems
Voice and Data over Mobile Radio
Voice and Data over Cellular Phones
Electronic Mapping Systems.
As well as our product range expanding our customer base is now quite extensive, ranging from small one man operations through to local bodies and nationwide corporates.
Future:
The future looks bright, with a number of exciting changes and challenges happening within our business and product line-up, which will help our customers and us grow together.
